Hamburger Cookies for kids: the whole recipe

Mini Burger Cookies: they look like burgers, but sshhh, they're really dessert. Don't tell the lettuce! This easy no-cook recipe is for ages 5 to 9 (grades Kโ€“3rd), takes about 15 minutes and serves 4. Crumb, our tiny chef, reads every step aloud with a picture, so a child can follow along.

Ingredients

  • 12 vanilla wafers
  • 6 chocolate sandwich cookies
  • 2 tablespoons strawberry jam
  • 2 tablespoons sprinkles (optional)

Tools

A plate, A butter knife.

Steps

  1. Wash your hands with soap for twenty seconds, then let's make Mini Burger Cookies!
  2. Set out 12 vanilla wafers in pairs, with one of each pair flat side up. Those are bottom buns!
  3. Set 6 chocolate sandwich cookies on the bottom buns, one each. Those are the patties!
  4. Dab 2 tablespoons of strawberry jam on each patty with a blunt knife. It's the ketchup!
  5. Put a wafer on top of each burger, bumpy side up. That's the top bun!
  6. Press down gently on each burger so the jam glues it together.
  7. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of sprinkles on the top buns for sesame seeds.
  8. Burgers are ready! Watch one bounce and one drop its top bun on.
