Grévy's zebras have thin stripes and big round ears. They are the biggest zebras of all. They eat dry grass.
A Grévy's zebra has narrower stripes than other zebras, packed close together, and a plain white belly. Its big, round ears can turn to catch sounds across the open land. It lives in dry places and walks to waterholes to drink.
Grévy's zebra is the largest wild animal in the horse family. No two zebras have the same pattern of stripes, and scientists use the patterns to tell them apart in photos. Males hold a patch of land, while females and their foals wander more widely in search of grass and water. Grévy's zebras are endangered because farm animals now share their grass and waterholes, so community groups in Kenya work to protect them.
