About Corner Shop

Corner Shop is a free shop game for kids. Critter customers come in wanting something off the shelves, the child finds it and taps it, and a question at the till rings it up. The dollars a day brings in buy new shelves and extras, so a little fruit stall grows into a shop and then a market.

A day has six customers, or eight with the door bell. Each critter says what it wants. The child taps it on the shelf, and a wrong pick only gets "Not that one!" and another try. At the till a question comes up with three big answers to tap. Right the first time, the customer pays the price, and a run of right answers adds a little extra. A second try still sells the thing for less, so a wrong answer never loses a sale.

The shop starts as a fruit stand. Dollars buy five more shelves, each with new things to sell: a bakery shelf, a toy shelf, an ice cream freezer, a flower bucket and a book rack. They also buy extras: a big sign with the shop's name, a door bell for two more customers a day, a shop cat who naps on the counter, and a tip jar that adds a dollar for every right answer the first time. The awning can be striped in different colors or a rainbow. With three shelves the stall becomes a shop, and with five it becomes a market.

Prices and takings are in whole US dollars. The questions at the till come from Peabody's practice at the child's level, from preschool to about fifth grade: counting, sums, letters, sounds and words. Pick Mix, Numbers, Reading or Just play before a day. In Just play the till simply rings, with no questions.

Corner Shop is free in the browser, with no download, no sign-up and no ads. The shop is kept in this browser, and on the child's profile when they are signed in.
