Free 3rd grade math games and practice
Peabody's 3rd grade math path has 44 short lesson parts in 5 skill areas, from "Equal groups" to "Compare fractions, one thing the same". Ten right answers finish a part, and every part is open. Practice starts on times tables, division, number sense, adding and taking away. All free through the end of 2026.
| Skill area | Parts | Some of the parts |
|---|---|---|
| Whole numbers | 17 | Equal groups, Arrays and Times tables: 2s, 5s and 10s |
| Fractions | 3 | Naming fractions, Fractions on a number line and Compare fractions, one thing the same |
| Shapes and geometry | 6 | Quadrilaterals, The exact name and Which does not belong? |
| Number sense | 10 | Times and divide stories, Area and times as many and Missing factor |
| Measurement and data | 8 | Elapsed time, Time word problems and Liquid volume |
On screen this path is called Level 5, so a child never has to think about which grade they are "supposed" to be in. A part is finished by ten right answers; a wrong one makes the next problem a little easier and never costs anything.
The lesson parts in 3rd grade math
The first 24 of 44 parts, in the order Peabody lists them:
- Equal groups: Times means groups of the same size.
- Arrays: Rows and columns of the same size.
- Times tables: 2s, 5s and 10s: The easiest tables first.
- Times tables: 3s and 4s: Count by 3s and 4s.
- Times tables: 6s and 7s: Use the facts you know.
- Times tables: 8s, 9s and all mixed: The trickiest tables.
- Sharing fairly: Dividing means sharing out evenly.
- Division facts: Use times to divide.
- Missing numbers: Find the number hiding in a fact.
- Times tens: 6 × 40 is 6 × 4 tens.
- Rounding to the nearest ten: Which ten is closest?
- Rounding to the nearest hundred: Which hundred is closest?
- Adding to 1,000: One place at a time, ones first.
- Taking away from 1,000: Break a ten or a hundred when you need to.
- Area: How many squares fit inside?
- Perimeter: The distance all the way around.
- Telling exact time: Every little mark counts.
- Naming fractions: How much of the bar is shaded?
- Fractions on a number line: Every fraction has its own spot.
- Quadrilaterals: Square, rectangle, rhombus, trapezoid
- Times and divide stories: Equal groups and arrays
- Elapsed time: How much time goes by?
- The exact name: Pick the most exact name
- Area and times as many: Find the missing number
…and 20 more parts in the full path.
What practice starts on
Beside the lessons, the practice brain brings facts back on a schedule. For a 3rd grade child it works on times tables, division facts, number sense (skip counting, comparing, the number line, place value), adding facts and taking-away facts. The whole math ladder, lowest rung first, is counting, making ten, adding, taking away, number sense, times tables, division, big numbers, fractions, decimals and negatives and algebra; a child starts on the rung their grade puts them on and moves up when answers are solid, so a child who is ahead is not held back and a question answered right is done for good.

Questions parents ask
What does Peabody's 3rd grade math cover?
44 lesson parts across whole numbers, fractions, shapes and geometry, number sense and measurement and data, from equal groups to compare fractions, one thing the same. They are short, they are made and marked by code, and they are not matched to state standards.
Does my child have to do the parts in order?
No. Every part is open. The first one not yet finished is marked "Up next" as a suggestion, so a child can go to whatever the class is doing this week.
Is it free?
Yes, free through the end of 2026, with no sign-up. Peabody has no written work, no standards report and no test, so it is practice, not a full curriculum.
