Peabody

Draft, pending legal review. This page says what Peabody does today, in plain words, and will change after a lawyer reads it.

Terms of use

Last updated 1 October 2026

Peabody is free for everyone through 31 December 2026, with no card. These terms are the plain rules for using it until then.

Who can use Peabody

A family account. A grown-up (18 or older, and the child’s parent or guardian) makes the family account and adds each child. Where these terms speak of a grown-up or a family, they mean a family account.

A kid’s own account. A kid may make their own account from I’m a kid, with a first name and 4 secret numbers they pick: no email, no grown-up and no payment. Their stories stay private to them, and the privacy page says what Peabody keeps for them.

Kids can also make up to three guest stories with no account at all.

Free, for now

Peabody is free through 31 December 2026. What comes after isn’t decided yet. Families will hear well before anything changes, and nobody is charged without choosing to pay. A kid’s own account is never charged and never asked to pay.

Stories

  • Stories are written by an AI model from the ideas a kid gives, then screened for safety and labeled before anyone reads them.
  • Unless a grown-up marks a story private, it joins Peabody’s library under the author’s pen name, where other kids can read it. By making a story, the family lets Peabody show it there and on share links the family creates.
  • A story made on a kid’s own account stays private: it never joins the library and can’t be shared by link.
  • [Who owns the stories, and what license the family, or a kid with their own account, gives Peabody, to be settled with a lawyer.]
  • Screening is careful but not perfect. A story the screen isn’t sure about waits, shown to nobody, until a person has reviewed it.

Please don’t

  • Put last names, addresses, phone numbers or anything private into story ideas.
  • Use Peabody to make anything hurtful, or try to get around its safety checks.
  • Try to get at another family’s information, or overload the service.

No guarantees

Peabody is new and made by one parent. It is offered as it is, without promises about results or uptime; it may sometimes be down (and say “whomp whomp”). [Limits of liability to be written by a lawyer.]

Ending

A family can stop using Peabody, and delete a child or the whole account, at any time from the grown-ups’ privacy screen. A kid can delete their own account at any time on My page. Peabody removes a kid’s own account that is never used after 14 days, or one with no sign-in and no reading for 180 days. Peabody may close an account that breaks these terms.

Changes and questions

If these terms change in a way that matters, families will hear by email first. [How kids on their own, who give no email, hear about a change: to be settled.] [Contact address to be added.] See also the privacy page.
