Dirt Cups for kids: the whole recipe

Let's dig a pudding graveyard full of wiggly gummy worms! This easy Halloween treat is for ages 5 to 10 (grades K–4th), takes about 15 minutes and serves 4. Crumb, our tiny chef, reads every step aloud with a picture, so a child can follow along.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups chocolate pudding
  • 12 chocolate sandwich cookies
  • 8 gummy worms

Tools

Cups or glasses, A big spoon, A zip-top bag, A rolling pin.

Steps

  1. Wash your hands with soap for twenty seconds.
  2. Spoon 2 cups of chocolate pudding into clear cups, about two-thirds full.
  3. Put 12 chocolate sandwich cookies in a zip-top bag, but keep one whole for each cup.
  4. Seal the bag and bash it with a rolling pin till it's crumbly dirt!
  5. Sprinkle the dirt on top of the pudding.
  6. Wiggle 8 gummy worms into the dirt, so their tails stick out.
  7. Stand a whole cookie up at the back of each cup: a little gravestone!
  8. Grab a spoon and dig for worms!
