Reading levels and needs
Books for first and second grade readers
These sit in the range schools usually call grades 1 and 2: short sentences, repeated words and pictures on most pages. Publisher and library level ranges vary, so treat the band as a guide.
Titles, authors and publication details were checked against Open Library in October 2026; age ranges follow publisher and library guidance and are approximate. Series order is the order of publication. Checked 2026-10-25. Nobody paid to be here. The buy links are plain search links, not affiliate links, so Peabody earns nothing from them.
