Autodesk Fusion (Education)

Desk research from the maker's own pages. Not yet tried by us. Checked 2026-10-24.

Professional software for designing real objects: 3D modeling, electronics, simulation and making tool paths for 3D printers and CNC machines. Students and teachers get it free for a year at a time through Autodesk's education plan, after proving they are enrolled at or work for a school. High schoolers use it for engineering classes, robotics and 3D printing. It is a big, cloud-linked desktop program.

Our take: Worth it for high schoolers serious about engineering or 3D printing; younger makers should start with Tinkercad.
