Seterra (GeoGuessr)

By GeoGuessr AB. Visit Seterra (GeoGuessr)

Desk research from the maker's own pages. Not yet tried by us. Checked 2026-10-24.

A map quiz site with 400+ geography quizzes on countries, capitals, flags, states, rivers and more, in many languages. Players click places on a map or type names against the clock, and can print blank maps. Started in 1997, it is now part of GeoGuessr. Quizzes are free to play in the browser; the Seterra iOS app is free. Some features ask you to upgrade to a paid GeoGuessr plan.

Our take: Great for memorizing maps and flags in upper grades; younger children should play logged-out with a parent's okay.

Checked in a browser

A browser check on 2026-10-25: what loads, the ads and trackers we saw, and what a child meets first. Not a hands-on test.

Child safety: 2 out of 5No ad was on screen during the check, but an ad stack loaded (Snigel ad manager, Amazon and Google ad servers), so adult-oriented ads are possible.
Data: 2 out of 5Ad networks (Google, Amazon, Snigel) plus TikTok, Facebook and Hotjar tracking fired before any consent, and an IP-location lookup (ip-api.com) ran; Amazon's ad exchange (aax) was bidding, though no ad was shown during the check.
Ease: 4 out of 5Clear list of quizzes by continent (Countries, Flags, Capitals), with small text; easy to start once a child can read.
Cost honesty: 5 out of 5Free to play; no upsell seen in this check.

What we found

  • 22 third-party hosts on 14 sites
  • 3 known ad hosts (doubleclick, amazon-adsystem, Google ad services) plus Snigel's ad scripts, and 4 trackers (TikTok, Facebook, Hotjar)
  • 20 cookies set before consent, including from amazon-adsystem, doubleclick, snigelweb and tiktok
  • 2 ad-related frames: an ad-consent frame and a Google Floodlight conversion tag

From the test: A clear, free map-quiz page, but it loads ad networks and TikTok and Facebook tracking on the first visit.
