Waffle

By Waffle Studio Ltd. Visit Waffle

Desk research from the maker's own pages. Not yet tried by us. Checked 2026-10-24.

A daily word puzzle played in the browser or app. Players see a waffle-shaped grid of jumbled letters and swap them, with a limited number of swaps, until the grid spells six words. A weekly Deluxe Waffle, a Number Waffle, an archive and puzzle packs add more. It builds spelling and vocabulary for older kids who enjoy Wordle-style games.

Our take: A fun daily word challenge for strong readers about 9 and up, best on an ad-blocked family browser; skip it if you want an ad-free game for young kids.

Checked in a browser

A browser check on 2026-10-25: what loads, the ads and trackers we saw, and what a child meets first. Not a hands-on test.

Child safety: 2 out of 5Programmatic ads appear above and below the puzzle (an LG TV ad from Best Buy in both slots); no chat seen.
Data: 1 out of 5The first visit contacted 15 known ad networks and 6 trackers, including ID-sync services (rlcdn/LiveRamp, id5-sync, tapad, crwdcntrl) and a Facebook pixel, before any consent.
Ease: 4 out of 5The puzzle grid fills the screen with big letter tiles and a clear swap count; ads frame it top and bottom.
Cost honesty: 4 out of 5The daily puzzle is free; the menu lists a premium 'Waffle Royale' and a Ko-fi tip link.

What we found

  • 73 third-party sites contacted; 15 known ad networks (Venatus, Criteo, PubMatic and others) and 6 trackers
  • 63 cookies set before consent, 26 from third-party domains
  • 3 ad frames; 2 TV ads visible on the first screen
  • A player ID was assigned on the first visit without any sign-in

From the test: A fun daily word puzzle for older kids, but the free web version comes with programmatic ads and data-broker trackers.

  • Too hard for early readers

Data and privacy

The privacy notice says it collects IP address, device details and game progress through cookies; it does not describe advertising. Yet our page load showed the Venatus ad network, Google ad services and well over a hundred bidding and ID-sync domains. Read the privacy policy.
