Tonight's sheet
One page for tonight, anywhere in the US: colour the Moon as you see it, tick what you find, write one thing you saw. For your own times, print from Sky Tonight after typing a ZIP.
Tonight's sky
Friday 30 October 2026 · anywhere in the US · peabody.kids/space/sky
Colour the Moon as you see it.
Tonight it is: Waning gibbous, 70% lit.
- Look for, after dark:
- ☐ Saturn: east, 3 fists above the ground
- ☐ the Moon
- ☐ a shooting star
I saw ______________________________________________
Clouds? ☐ none ☐ some ☐ lots
Next shower: the Southern Taurids, night of 4–5 November 2026. A quiet one. Look at the Moon instead.
Worked out ahead with astronomy-engine for the middle of the US. A grown-up goes out too. Never look at the Sun.
How to use Tonight's sheet
Print it before dark and take it outside on a clipboard with a pencil. Colour the Moon the way it really looks, not the way you think it should, then tick each thing you find. The compass shows tonight's planets for the middle of the US: face the direction, count fists up from the ground, and look for a bright point that doesn't twinkle much. Cloudy? Tick “lots” and try tomorrow; the sheet works any night.
More sheets: the Moon journal, the shower night kit, the star pattern cards and the planets in order.
