The goliath frog is the biggest frog on Earth. It lives by fast rivers in Africa. It is a strong swimmer and a big jumper.
A goliath frog lives beside rushing rivers and waterfalls in African rainforest. It has no vocal sac, the pouch other frogs use to make loud calls, so it is almost silent. It clears small pools by moving stones and lays its eggs there.
Goliath frogs are the largest frogs alive. Their tadpoles need clear, fast, oxygen-rich water, so the frogs live only along a few rivers in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. They are endangered because forests are cut down and rivers get muddy, and because some are caught for food. Protected areas and local scientists are helping to keep them safe.
