Animal report template, by grade
Pick an animal and a grade. You get one page to print: the animalβs length, weight, speed and lifespan with their sources, a short passage to read at that gradeβs level, βwhere my facts came fromβ already written, and lines for your childβs own words. Free, with nothing to sign up for.
What changes by grade
- Grades 1β2: the shortest passage, three questions with one or two lines each, and a big box to draw the animal in its home.
- Grades 3β4: a longer passage and five questions: habitat, food, how its body helps it, a favorite fact, and a question still to answer.
- Grades 5β6: the fullest passage and six questions, including adaptations, whether it is in danger, a comparison, and a bibliography.

How to use it
- Read the animalβs page together first; its π reads it aloud at the same three levels.
- The passage on the sheet is Peabodyβs own writing, so a child can quote it and say where it came from.
- Older children can open each source on the list and find the number on it: the start of a real bibliography.
- Pair it with the fact cards and the guide Writing an animal report.
