Grade 1 reading

Free Grade 1 reading stories for kids (level 1)

Level 1 is for the very first readers: a handful of short, plain words on a page, with sounds a beginner can sound out and words that come back often. Most are a few lines a page about one small thing, like a hat, a kite or a cat. They suit kids who are just starting to read on their own, and they read well aloud with a grown-up.
