For grown-ups

A homework session with a clear end is easier to start. Set twenty minutes and a little steam train chugs towards the station while your child works; the done-at clock beside it shows exactly when the break comes.

Tips for grown-ups

  • Work in short blocks: twenty minutes of work, then a five-minute wiggle break, then another block if needed.
  • Show the done-at clock: 'when the big hand points at the 9, you get a break' teaches time-telling along the way.
  • Keep the timer where your child can see it, not on a phone in their hand.
  • Use the Wiggle break job between blocks: one minute of popcorn jumping clears the head.
  • If twenty minutes is too long, start with ten. The train fits any length.

Questions

What is a good homework block length?

Many families use short blocks with breaks, such as 20 minutes of work and 5 of rest, a kid-sized version of the Pomodoro technique. Younger children may need shorter blocks.

Does it keep the right time if my child switches tabs?

Yes. The timer measures from the moment it started, so a hidden tab or a sleeping laptop cannot make it slow down.

Can it run a break automatically?

Not yet: set the break as its own timer with the Wiggle break job. A work-then-break sequence is on our plan.

Is it free?

Yes. No ads, no sign-up, nothing to download.
