For grown-ups

A routine goes better when a child can see it: what comes now, what comes next, and how long each part takes. Pick a ready routine or build your own from picture cards; each step gets its own animated timer, and when a step ends it waits for a tap, so nobody is hurried into the next thing.

Tips for grown-ups

  • Build it with your child. A routine they helped make is a routine they own.
  • Keep it short: three to five steps is plenty for a young child.
  • Leave 'Wait for a tap' on, so a step that runs over just waits. Turn on 'Go on by itself' once the routine is a habit.
  • Tap Done when a step is finished early: there is no prize for waiting out the clock.
  • The clock beside the picture shows when the whole routine will be done, which is a good way to practise telling the time.
  • Your routine is kept in this browser and in the link, so tomorrow it is ready, and Copy link sends it to a babysitter.

Questions

What is a visual routine?

A routine shown as pictures in order, so a child who cannot read yet still knows what comes next. Visual schedules are widely used with young children and by many families of autistic children and children with ADHD. This is a simple free tool, not a clinical one; follow your child's own plan.

Does the timer make my child hurry?

It shouldn't. When a step's time is up, Peabody says what comes next and waits for a tap. Your child can also tap Done to finish a step early.

Can I make my own routine?

Yes. Add steps from 21 picture cards (wake up, get dressed, breakfast, brush teeth, homework, bath, story and more), change each length with − and +, and move steps up or down. Two to eight steps.

Is anything saved about my child?

Only the routine, in this browser and in the link after the # sign, which browsers never send to a server. No names, no account, no ads.

For grown-ups: Peabody has no ads, not one, and nothing to sell your child. The Kids Pick, an independent kids' directory, rates its games 90/100. See what other free kids' sites load · Grown-ups, sign in · Already have a profile?
